Procaine hydrochloride is white fine needle crystal or crystalline powder at room temperature, odorless, slightly bitter and hemp, easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform, almost insoluble in ether. The ester bond in the structure of procaine hydrochloride can be hydrolyzed to form p-aminobenzoic acid and diethylaminoethanol. Under certain conditions, p-aminobenzoic acid can be further decarboxylated to produce toxic aniline. The structure of procaine hydrochloride has aromatic amino group, easy oxidation discoloration, pH value, temperature, ultraviolet light, oxygen and metal ions can accelerate oxidation discoloration.
