Methoxybenzoicacid (Methoxybenzoicacid), also known as p-anisic acid, 4-anisic acid, anisic acid, at room temperature is colorless needle-like crystal, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, slightly soluble in hot water, insoluble in cold water. The intermediate p-methoxybenzoyl chloride of ethamiodarone is prepared by chlorination of thionyl chloride. It is used as an intermediate in solacetam medicine, and can also be used as a spice and preservative.
